In January, RCI cooperated with the Department of Education and Training (DoET) of Quang Tri, to organize a launching workshop to kick off the project “BodyTalk)” in Dong Ha city, Quang Tri.

The participants of the workshop were representatives of the DoET, the Department of Health and the Department of Labor and Social Affairs of Quang Tri province; the Provincial School for Children with Disabilities, representatives of Bureau of Education and Training, District Health Centers, Commune Health Center and Secondary Schools and parents and students with disabilities in the project area. In addition, representatives of the Center for Vocational Education and Training for blind children and the Center for the Protection of Disabled Children of Long Tho Pagoda from Thua Thien Hue province also attended this workshop.

At the event, representatives of RCI organization and the provincial DoET shared the goals and expected outcomes as well as the implementation plan of this project. At the same time, the stakeholders discussed the roles and ways of coordination in the implementation process to ensure the activities are carried out effectively, obtaining the highest benefits for youth with disabilities.

The project will be implemented in 3 districts of Quang Tri province including Cam Lo, Hai Lang and Dong Ha city within 3 years (expected to end in 3/2024). The goal of the project is to enable youngsters with disability to make informed decision on their body and sexual life; in order for them to be confident to explore their positive image, to develop relationships and sexuality with their own desires and wishes. Body Talk was funded by Liliane Fonds with technical support from Rutgers during the project’s implementation times.
