EMPLOYMENT FOR YOUTH WITH DISABILITIES: TVET GO BEYOND LIMITS – REACH FOR THE FUTURE

“TVET: Go beyond limits – Reach for the future” is a project summary document of the Project “Inclusive employment – Inclusive youth with disabilities” (TVET), implemented by the Research Center for Inclusion (RCI) with funding from the Liliane Fonds (Netherlands).

The project was implemented in Hanoi from 2023 to 2025, with the goal of expanding access to employment for youth with disabilities through vocational training, skills development, and stronger connections with businesses.

An Employment Support Model for Youth with Disabilities

According to the project’s approach, suitable employment should not only provide a stable income but also ensure accessibility, an inclusive working environment, and opportunities for career development that correspond to each individual’s abilities and capacities.

The document captures practical experiences in supporting youth with disabilities to access vocational training, develop workplace skills, and find suitable employment opportunities. It also serves as a useful reference for development organizations, vocational training institutions, businesses, and stakeholders interested in disability inclusion in employment and the labor market.

Key Results of the TVET Project

Over three years of implementation, the project reached and supported nearly 300 youth with different types of disabilities, including physical disabilities, intellectual disabilities, deafness/hard of hearing, and blindness/visual impairments. Among them, nearly 100 youth secured stable employment and income through the project’s network of more than 20 partner businesses. These results represent significant progress in promoting employment for youth with disabilities and building more inclusive workplaces in Vietnam.

In addition, around 150 parents and caregivers increased their awareness of youth with disabilities’ rights to career choice, independent living, and equal access to employment.

A Resource on Vocational Training and Inclusive Employment

“TVET: Breaking Barriers – Reaching the Future” not only summarizes the project’s activities but also shares inspiring stories, lessons learned, and effective support models in vocational training and inclusive employment.

Through this document, RCI hopes to share good practices, promote employment opportunities for youth with disabilities, and contribute to building workplaces that are more equal, accessible, and inclusive for everyone.
