Culture And Sports Festival For People With Disabilities In Thua Thien Hue (April 20, 2024)

On April 20, the Research Center for Inclusion (RCI) and the People’s Committee of Vinh Thanh commune successfully organized the Cultural and Sports Festival for People with Disabilities in Phu Vang district, Thua Thien Hue province.

The event aims to increase the involvement of individuals with disabilities in social activities, remove physical and social barriers, and raise awareness of the disability community. Besides the participation of representatives of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Thua Thien Hue province and representatives of 3 communes Vinh Thanh, Vinh Xuan, Phu Gia, over 50 persons with disabilities and their caretakers in Phu Vang district, Thua Thien Hue province participated in the event.

Mr Huynh Van Phu, Vice Chairman of Vinh Thanh Commune People’s Committee, stated that the Cultural and Sports Festival for People with disabilities held by RCI in Vinh Thanh commune and neighbouring communes in Phu Vang district is a meaningful event for people with disabilities and their families. It is an activity to improve their spirit and physical strength, allowing them to live happily, sociably, and optimistically. He also believed that persons with disabilities need every opportunity to engage in social activities and overcome feelings of inferiority to integrate into society.
