CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES 2024 IN QUẢNG TRỊ (01/12/2024)

On December 1, 2024, in Đông Hà City, Quảng Trị Province, the Research Center for Inclusion (RCI) — the leading entity of the AAI Consortium — in collaboration with the Quảng Trị Provincial Association for People with Disabilities, Victims of Agent Orange, Protection of People with Disabilities, and Child Rights (hereafter referred to as the Quảng Trị Disability Association) organized an event to commemorate International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2024. This event is part of the “Support to Improve the Quality of Life for Persons with Disabilities in Provinces Heavily Sprayed with Agent Orange” project (Inclusion 1), funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

To raise awareness about persons with disabilities on International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3, 2024), the event welcomed over 50 participants, including representatives from local agencies and social organizations such as the Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs, provincial and district disability associations, as well as persons with disabilities and their families from project communes and districts in Quảng Trị Province.

Aligning with the theme for International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2024, “Promoting the Leadership of Persons with Disabilities for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future,” the event honored outstanding individuals with disabilities in leadership roles in Quảng Trị. It also encouraged the active participation of persons with disabilities in community activities. The event provided a platform for persons with disabilities and their families to share their aspirations, needs, and feedback in key areas such as education, employment, and accessible social and cultural opportunities. Beyond fostering joy and interaction, the event underscored the value of every individual, including persons with disabilities, in society, thereby promoting inclusion and strengthening community cohesion.
