SHORT-TERM TRAINING AND COUNSELING FOR FAMILY MEMBERS AND CAREGIVERS ON DAILY CARE AND SUPPORT SKILLS FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES (AUGUST 2025)

Under the framework of the project “Improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities in provinces sprayed with Agent Orange”, funded by the United States Government, the Research Center for Inclusion (RCI) collaborated with doctors from the Hue Psychiatric Hospital to organize a series of short-term training and counseling sessions for family members and caregivers of persons with disabilities in Quang Tri Province and Hue City, two project areas in Central Vietnam.

🎯 Objectives and Activities

Following the successful opening of intervention cases for persons with disabilities, the project continued with these training courses to:

  • Enhance caregivers’ knowledge on neuropsychiatric health and skills in caring for persons with neuropsychiatric disabilities;
  • Equip caregivers with practical daily care techniques, proper medication use, and the ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.

📊 Results

  • Nam Hai Lang (Quang Tri): 53 participants attended.
  • Dan Dien (Hue): 56 participants attended.

👉 A total of 109 caregivers participated in the training and counseling sessions.

Post-training assessments showed that:

  • 72% of participants achieved excellent results,
  • 26% achieved good results.

The training sessions were effective and well-received, helping caregivers strengthen their capacity to support persons with neuropsychiatric disabilities. This activity also contributed to improving mental health, promoting better care practices, and enhancing the quality of life for persons with disabilities in local communities. 🌻
