NEUROPSYCHIATRIC INTERVENTION CASE OPENING (AUGUST 2025)

Under the framework of the project “Improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities in provinces sprayed with Agent Orange”, funded by the United States Government, the Research Center for Inclusion (RCI) collaborated with the Hue Psychiatric Hospital and local health staff to organize neuropsychiatric intervention case openings for persons with disabilities in Quang Tri Province and Hue City, two project areas in Central Vietnam.

The activity took place from August 16–17, 2025, in Nam Hai Lang commune (Quang Tri province) and Dan Dien commune (Hue city). Following an initial screening phase, based on medical examination results and the needs of persons with disabilities and their families, psychiatrists and neurological nurses visited each household to conduct in-depth assessments, evaluate mental and neurological health conditions, and establish individualized intervention goals and plans.

Additionally, the doctors discussed and agreed with persons with disabilities, caregivers, and local health workers on the best approaches to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of each intervention.

As a result, over 100 persons with disabilities received medical consultations and gained access to neuropsychiatric care services during this activity.

The event was successfully implemented thanks to the close coordination among all partners, particularly the specialized neuropsychiatric medical team and the strong support from local authorities. This activity marks an important step toward improving mental health, enhancing quality of life, and promoting social inclusion for persons with disabilities in the region.
