Under the framework of the project “Improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities in provinces sprayed with Agent Orange”, funded by the United States Government, the Research Center for Inclusion (RCI) collaborated with the Hue Psychiatric Hospital and local health staff to organize neuropsychiatric intervention case openings for persons with disabilities in Quang Tri Province and Hue City, two project areas in Central Vietnam.
📅 Date: August 16-17, 2025
📍 Locations: Nam Hai Lang Commune (Quang Tri Province) and Dan Dien Commune (Hue City)
🎯 Objectives and Activities
Following the initial screening sessions, based on the assessment results and the needs of persons with disabilities and their families, psychiatrists and neuropsychiatric nurses conducted home visits to:
- Perform in-depth examinations to evaluate the neuropsychiatric and mental health status of persons with disabilities;
- Provide specific intervention prescriptions and set individualized intervention goals;
- Discuss and agree among doctors, nurses, persons with disabilities, and caregivers on how to implement the interventions for optimal outcomes.
📊 Results
- Nam Hai Lang Commune (Quang Tri): 50 persons with disabilities received intervention case openings and related services.
- Dan Dien Commune (Hue): 51 persons with disabilities received intervention case openings and related services.
👉 A total of 101 persons with disabilities were provided with access to specialized neuropsychiatric care services during this activity.
The activity was carried out smoothly and achieved positive results thanks to the effective collaboration among all partners, particularly the dedicated neuropsychiatric medical team and the strong support from local authorities.
This initiative marks an important step toward improving mental health, enhancing quality of life, and promoting social inclusion for persons with disabilities in the community. 🌻
